Leichhardt’s Brett Renton, Superintendent HSECT and John Blower, Project Director presented Leichhardt’s donation of $25,000 to Judith Barker, Western Operations CEO of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) following the Community Conversation event held in Carnarvon this week.

The event was attended by local community groups who fundraise for RFDS during the year. It was great to see The Carnarvon Shire President, Eddie Smith, and the Shire of Upper Gascoyne President Jim Caunt attend as well as Dwayne Mallard from the RFDS Board.

Brett reflected on the patients Leichhardt has transferred to Carnarvon over the years. He also spoke about how, through volunteering roles, he has transferred a number of patients from the hospital to the RFDS planes, and one thing that stood out, which the crews probably didn’t get to see, was the relief displayed by the families when they saw their loved ones being cared for by the RFDS experts with state of the art aircraft.

Leichhardt depends on the communities in which we operate, and those communities rely on services such as the RFDS to answer the call when we need them most.  We are lucky to have access to this essential service and give our sincere thanks to everyone involved at RFDS for looking after our community.
