Leichhardt has partnered with the Clontarf Foundation to support the Carnarvon Clontarf Academy, a school‑based program helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys stay engaged in education and build strong pathways beyond school.
Based at Carnarvon Community College, the Carnarvon Clontarf Academy has been operating since 2011 and provides structured, practical support to students from Year 4 through to Year 12. The Academy delivers a full weekly program that includes morning training sessions, after‑school activities, homework support, healthy meals, mentoring, and leadership development.
The Clontarf model focuses on improving school attendance, strengthening engagement, and supporting positive behaviour. Through consistent mentoring and culturally appropriate support, the Academy helps students build confidence, develop life skills, and remain connected to their education through to completion of Year 12.
By supporting the Carnarvon Clontarf Academy, Leichhardt is investing in a program that delivers clear and measurable outcomes for young people, including improved attendance, stronger participation in school life, and more successful transitions into employment, vocational training, or further education.
Leichhardt Chief Executive Officer Scott Nicholas said the partnership reflects the company’s long‑term commitment to regional communities.
“Education plays a critical role in creating opportunity. We’re proud to support the Clontarf Foundation and the work being done through the Carnarvon Clontarf Academy to help young people stay engaged in school, build confidence, and prepare for life beyond the classroom.”
Clontarf Foundation CEO and Founder, Gerard Neesham, said partnerships with local industry help strengthen the Academy’s impact.
“Support from partners like Leichhardt allows us to continue delivering consistent, high‑quality programs that help students attend school regularly, set goals, and work towards positive post‑school outcomes. These partnerships make a real difference for students and their families.”
A Year 12 Clontarf Academy student also reflected on the impact of the partnership.
“Being part of Clontarf at Carnarvon has helped me stay focused on school and think more about my future. It’s good knowing organisations like Leichhardt support programs that give us opportunities and back us to do well.”
The partnership also creates opportunities for positive connections between Leichhardt employees and Academy students, helping strengthen relationships between education, industry, and community.
Through initiatives like this, Leichhardt continues to support programs that contribute to stronger communities and long‑term opportunities across the regions where it operates.
